Zebulon Weaver
(1872 - 1948)

Zebulon Weaver (1872-1948) was born in Weaverville, NC, May 12, 1872.  He was the son of William Elbert Weaver and Hannah E. (Baird) Weaver.  He served as a Democratic member of the North Carolina state house of representatives from Buncombe County from 1907 to 1909 and as a member of the North Carolina state senate from 1913 - 1915, for the 36th District.  He later ran for Congress and won the race to serve as the U.S. Representative from North Carolina from 1919 - 1929 and later from 1931 to 1947 (This service included the 10th District [1919-29, 1931-33], the 11th District 1933-43, 12th District 1943-47).  He married Anna Hyman and was a long-time supporter of civic activities in western North Carolina.  Weaver, a life-time Methodist, was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, NC.
